Pawnee Nation Tax Commission

NOTICE:

Pawnee Nation tribal members

Pre-Registration for truck/car /motorcycle/RV purchases for tribal tags.

On September 1, 2024, a new law Mason Treat Act (SB 2035) will take effect that involves the following:

*Purchase from Dealership/Car lot: Dealers will have two (2) business days to submit pre-registration information online. For purchases at a dealership/car lot.

*Private Sales or Purchases from individual/title owner will require the following to be completed.:  Purchaser or Seller will be required to register the vehicle, (truck, car, motorcycle, RV) themselves within two days of title being notarized.   Must be completed by Purchaser/Pawnee tribal member or seller at: Okcars.service.ok.gov by two options:

1. Complete mandatory two-day pre-registration (after pre-registration must download temporary paper tag to affix to vehicle Or

2. Local tag agent will complete pre-registration.

No fees are associated with the pre-registration process required on September 1, 2024. Pre-registration process still applies to tribal vehicles that are going to be registered with tribes.

IMPORTANT: Pawnee vehicle registrations must be completed within 20 calendar day of date that title was notarized, otherwise .25 cents penalty per day applies on 21st day after notary date. The 60-day registration time frame is only applicable to state of Oklahoma vehicle tags.

Pawnee tribal members selling their motorcycle, vehicle, trailer will need to remove the tag and return to the Tax office when completing the registration within 20 days of title being notarized.  Notify the Dealership that your vehicle is going to be registered with your tribe and send the title to tribal member or directly to the Pawnee Nation Tax Commission office at Pawnee Nation Tax Commission, PO Box 438, Pawnee, OK 74058.

Contact the Pawnee Nation Tax Commission for a new tag, title and registration within 20 days to avoid penalties. Appointment is NOT required for the new vehicle registration process, however you can still schedule an appointment at 918-762-3624 with Lyle Fields, Tax Manager, or Louise Stevens, Tax Assistant.
