President EchoHawk and John EchoHawk elected to American Academy of Arts and Sciences

PAWNEE NATION- Thursday, April 20, 2023– Two Pawnee citizens have been selected to be 2023 new members of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences (AAA&S). The list of new members was announced yesterday and included Pawnee Business Council President Walter EchoHawk and Native American Rights Fund founder and CEO John EchoHawk. The AAA&S was founded in 1780 by John Adams and more than sixty other “scholar patriots” during the American Revolution to establish institutions that support knowledge gathering for “public good.” 

According to the AAA&S, their mission, “honors excellence and convenes leaders from every field of human endeavor to examine new ideas, address issues of importance to the nation and the world, and work together.” Academy President David W. Oxtoby said, “With the election of these members, the Academy is honoring excellence, innovation, and leadership and recognizing a broad array of stellar accomplishments.” READ MORE
