Earthlodge

This is a recreation of a Pawnee earthlodge. Nearly 2000 years ago, the Pawnee people began constructing their home in a similar structure that was rectangular. Over time, the construction methods were honed into a unique structural style. By the 14th century, Pawnee earthlodges had acquired the round shape that you see here. The Pawnee people built the last earthlodges use in ceremonies sometime in the 1920s.
